Cast in France using reconstituted stone and cement, this pair of large garden urns with gadrooning and scrolled handles has a commanding presence. The shapely urns are dominated by thick gadroon lobes across the bulbous main body. A pair of scrolled handles originate from a ring of recessed fluting above. The large volutes swing out before turning sharply downwards, where they are enveloped in a curled leaf cup that emerges from the gadrooning. Delicate fluting can be seen on both lids, beneath a ring of beading. Pinecone finials, emerging from acanthus cups, top the urns, which are supported by thick circular bases with several layers of molding. The details are robust, giving our French cast stone garden urns a stately presence. They can be used as garden ornaments or flanking a set of steps or walkway.
