This pair of large cast stone vases on pedestals stands about 7 ½ feet tall and has a great worn texture and antique stone finish. Each vase is adorned with musical trophy decoration on both the front and back sides. The central element of the trophies is a ribbon tied in a bow with long tails that run down the side of the urn. Beneath the ribbon are a set of musical instruments that include a horn, a triangle, and a violin, and on each side there is a handle with mascaron adornment. Beneath the mascaron is a scroll with foliate ornamentation. At the bottom of the scroll (the shoulder of the vase), is a large, curled leaf that trails into gadroon at the bottom of the vase’s body. The octagonal foot of the vase is adorned with egg and dart molding.
Each vase stands on cast stone pedestal with cavetto molding on the cornice and a stepped base. The center of each pedestal has raised square panels with canted corners. The vases are made with a special mix of crushed limestone, bluestone, and cement.
Place these large and regal vases in an outdoor setting, perhaps near a pool or on either side of stone steps, or set them on either side of an entrance to make grand statement.
CONDITION: Recent production. Good strong condition. Distressed finish to mimic age (i.e. uneven coloration and wear). See photos for details.
