This impressive pair of antique French bronze dore andirons depicts two cherubs on each andiron, holding large decorative urns with final tops and bottoms. The urns have a graceful shape with many beautiful scrolling forms, shells, and geometrical motifs. The cherubs each stand on one foot, balancing on a starred sphere or globe. All of this rests upon three scrolling wrought iron feet and an iron support. These andirons would have been made in the mid 1800s in the Napoleon III period. They will be the focal point of any fireplace, but since the back of the iron log support has been cut, they can also work as beautiful standalone decorative objects on a table or buffet.
CONDITION: Andirons have some wobble to them. Some rubs and loss of gilding. Back andiron support bar was cut at some point.
