Hand-carved in Italy, circa 1950s, this pair of vases features large silver gilt leaf bouquets above painted black gadrooning. Beneath the lobes is a silver circular foot above a square black plinth with canted corners. Interestingly, the hand-painted vases have slightly different color schemes, with one having black bases to the gadroon lobes, while the other has silver. Also, the top of the plinth with the silver lobes has a matching silver hue; the other has a black top. Our silver gilt bouquet vases would make fantastic decorative accessories for a mantle, shelf, or console table. They could also be repurposed as table lamps, as they were previously wired (based on openings at the top of the bouquet and on the bases).
CONDITION: Strong condition with minor losses to both wood and gilding. Light rubs. Previously wired as lamps, but the electrical work has been removed (openings still present). Slightly different gilding patterns but can be considered a true pair.
