Description

This lovely and large scale pair of French crystal and bronze vases measure 30 inches in height.  They would look wonderful on a table or console flanking a piece of art or a mirror. However, they are tall enough to be placed on the floor.

The classical campana shaped crystal body has been hand cut with repeating gadroon decoration of alternating sizes: a thin, flattened curve followed by a much wider and rounded curve. This gadroon pattern is repeated twice more on the body – once around the waist and once around the stem. If you look closely, you can see tiny air bubbles in the crystal, indicating that the vases were in fact hand-crafted.

The rim has been cast in bronze dore and adorned with a repeating slanted ciselure. Ciselure is the French method of carving décor into bronze once it has been cast, similar to engraving. Another continuous geometric molding wraps around the base and sits atop a gilded band that is similar to the lip.

These elegant vases look fantastic on their own, but can also be used to hold a bouquet of long-stemmed flowers.

CONDITION: Good condition with minor fleabites to gilding. Minor surface buildup, small abrasions in a contained area on the lip of one vase.
