This pair of French garden urns on pedestals was cast using reconstituted stone and dark coloring agents. The resulting finish gives the urns an antique gray stone appearance with dark gray and black striations.
The campana urns have a rolled rim surrounding a 22 inch opening. These quarter round edges have been adorned with a repeating egg and dart motif. Just below is a grapevine that wraps around the top of the bell-shaped urn. A ring of thick gadrooning is at the bottom, just above a quarter round protuberance festooned with a foliate motif. A pair of mascarons emerge from the gadrooning on two sides, with an arched leaf attached to the crowns of the heads, forming large handles. Cast separately from the urns they support, the pedestals have several layers of molding. The entablature features three layers of cavetto, with another molding on the thick plinth. In between, the column has been embellished with a foliate wreath and crinkle ribbon on each side.
Our pair of French garden urns on pedestals would make fantastic garden ornaments. They can also be used as planters, flanking a set of steps, a walkway, or an exterior entrance.
