A charming pair of French landscape paintings on boards depicting rural life in the early 1900’s, signed by the artist (“Remy”). Both paintings are surrounded by giltwood frames with foliate motifs, enhancing the tranquil nature of the settings. In each landscape, a curvaceous dirt road can be seen running through the center of a wooded area. The trees are majestic and flush with leaves of various shades of green. Blue skies stretch above, although one of the paintings has significantly less cloud coverage. In one scene, a woman in black and white can be seen walking down the road (towards the viewer) while three farmers behind her hoe a grassy field. The other painting has three women picking flowers in the forest while two figures gather on the other side of the road. There is a faint glimpse of buildings in the background, including a steeple above the horizon. Our French landscape paintings are roughly 10” x 13”, allowing them to be hung where space is at a premium.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with light ages separations to frame. Both paintings have an eyelet on the back for hanging purposes. Please see photos for details.
