These continental European demijohns from the 20th century have green translucent glass that were embossed with a coat of arms above the word “Cabernet”. The wide mouths have an applied ring just below the mouth, and each was then finished to give a smooth appearance.
Demijohn bottles are used to store liquids and have been in existence throughout the world for over 400 years. Since they typically held larger amounts of wine, they were also a convenient solution for transport. Cabernet is one of the most well known grapes in the world, with some of the best varieties coming from Bordeaux and Northern California.
Today, demijohns can be used as decorative accessories anywhere in the home, or re-purposed into lamps.
CONDITION: Very Good. Minor buildup to glass especially around the embossed sections.
