This pair of stone garden pedestals was cast in Southern Italy, and each one is composed of 3 sections. Sometimes referred to as reconstituted or recomposed stone, cast stone in this case, is created by mixing crushed limestone with a proprietary mix of special binders and other crushed stones. The pedestals are also patinated by hand, which give a lightly and varying finish, which resembles aged limestone.
Each of our pedestals have a classical European design, made of 3 sections. The square entablature has step molding with a cavetto cornice, while the central column has rectangular recessed molding with canted corners. Beneath the column is a thick square base with shallow step molding. All three sections have a hollowed-out center, reducing the weight without affecting the integrity.
These cast stone garden pedestals from Southern Italy can be used outdoors or inside. The top entablature is large enough to support items of around a 20 x 20 base footprint, but the statue or vase must be at least 10 x 10 inches to cover the hole. Otherwise, simple paving stones (as shown in several of the photos) can be supplied to cover the opening and elevate your object.
CONDITION: Good condition some rubs and chipping, specifically to the bottom plinths (see photos). Intentional distressing and patina. Sections should be lightly mortared together for stability (we are using temporary shims while on display at our store)
