Cast using reconstituted stone and cement, this pair of dog statues has a light sandstone finish. Reconstituted stone is organic stone that has been crushed into small pebbles. These fragments are then combined with a binding agent like cement. Sometimes coloring pigments are added to the mix, as is the case with these dogs, giving them a chalky gray hue. The resulting aggregate is poured into a mold where it is left to harden. After the blend has set, the mold is removed, rendering a durable work of art.

These long-haired dogs have been depicted in a contrapposto position, with their noses near the ground.
