These versatile Italian Breccia Pernice marble basins are just over 10 inches wide and completely hand carved and polished. Marble basins of this size were usually used in a church as holy water vessels. There are stylized acanthus leaf motifs at the inside center back of each basin, and on the back of the outside of each piece is an extending block of marble where they would have been attached to a wall. They have a very well done molding which surmounts a gently curved body. Today these beautiful marble basins can be used as accessory holders, soap dishes, vide-poches, or simply as objets d’art.
CONDITION: Very good condition with minor nicks. Inside of vessels not polished.
