A fascinating pair of hand-carved Italian plaques, these coat of arms have been painted in a monochromatic black and white. Both plaques are topped by a seven-point open crown with a band adorned with lozenges. Emerging from beneath the crown is a black fabric with a white fluted trim and a flower noix at the bottom. Depicted as a parted curtain, the ovate heraldic display is enveloped by a linenfold motif. The shield has been quartered with horses forcené (erect with hooves raised) standing on a ball and topped with a crown in two fields, while the other charges are a pair of bendy alternating black and white. Our wooden coat of arms plaques can be displayed in any room of the house for a unique pair of decorative accessories.
CONDITION: Strong condition with intentional distress marks, including nicks and rubs. Wired for hanging in the back. Some variations to the painted areas, as the plaques were hand-painted.
