Hand-carved in Florence, Italy, and masterfully painted and distressed, this pair of console tables feature fantastically detailed dolphin supports. Both consoles have been parcel painted cream with beige and gray areas, while the angular tops have a foliate motif carved into the molding, which also embellishes the back legs above block footing.
The protruding sections of the top are mirrored by the ends of the apron, which are adorned by circular floret. There is a third floret on the recessed section of the apron, flanked by a pair of horizontal foliate margents. The bottom edge of the apron has more foliate carvings, but smaller than the top and legs. At the front of the console is a pair of dolphin supports that terminate on an arbalete shelf above bun feet with gadrooned edges. Our distressed painted console tables are a unique pair that would be focal points of any room in which they are placed.
CONDITION: Strong condition with intentional distress, including parcel painting, light rubs, and scratches to mimic antiquity. Some faded elements with fleabites to wood.
