From the early 1600’s, this rare, Period Louis XIII armoire has bold diamond point motifs on its two front doors. The crown and base are stepped out and the sides have four raised vertical panels and one raised center horizontal panel. The entire piece rests upon bun feet at the front and block feet at the back. The design is typical of French furniture made in the middle 1600s, and it has been made from heavy French oak. A piece like this would have originally been stained in a deep brown, but our armoire been given a beautifully re-finished in a patinated broken white paint. Smaller and less ornamented than it’s 18th century counterparts, this antique diamond point armoire will add a unique and rich storage solution to any interior.
CONDITION: Good strong condition, wear commensurate with age and use. Evidence of old wood worm holes. Painted finish is modern. Original lock and key.
