Cast in France from a mixture of pulverized stone and cement (known as reconstituted stone), this monumental garden stag is over six feet tall and six and a half feet long. The reconstituted stone was mixed with a coloring agent, giving the stag an ochre appearance. Exposure to the elements has caused a unique patina, with cream, green, gray, and black striations along the animal and the six inch thick rectangular base that the deer lays upon.

One of the most classic decorations of the “grands domaines de chasse” of France, the stag has always represented power, fertility, gentleness, and wisdom. This massive stag would make a powerful impression in any large garden or park setting.

CONDITION: Good condition with fleabites and minor separations, both byproducts of the casting method. Light buildup and striated patina have developed from exposure to the elements.
