A monumental dining table, measuring over 14 ¾ feet long, the oak wood was hand-carved in France during the early to mid-1900’s. The table has been bleached more recently, allowing all the nuances of the wood grain to become more prominent.
The 3 ¼” thick top has been assembled with the aid of large dowels, which are visible at both ends. Larger dowels were also used to construct the stout base and the slightly scrolled feet. A 3 ¾” thick single plank stretcher offers support to the open trestle legs. Both the base and the stretcher have acceptable undulations, age separations, and losses, giving the table added character.
Our gorgeous bleached oak dining table from France is the perfect addition to any large dining room. French “monastery” tables of this scale are quite rare. The table can easily accommodate 12-14 adults for seated dinners. It would also make a fantastic display table for a more relaxed setting where guests serve themselves.
CONDITION: Good condition with minor nicks, rubs, and age separations. Visible old fills and traces of old wood worm. Acceptable losses and knotholes to legs. Please see photos for details.
