Comprised of 25 pieces of stone, this limestone wall fountain was hand-carved in Provence, France, in the 2000’s. The large half-octagonal basin (comprised of 12 stones, including five capstones) features thick quarter round top edges coupled with a thin cavetto molding at the base. An arched crown, consisting of three stones, with a thick layer of cavetto above a thin protruding molding, sits on top of the three-tiered back wall. The eight stones that make up the back wall have each been carved with a portion of thick molding with canted corners that encircles the recessed center that contains a geometric housing for the scrolled iron spout. A pair of concave corbels with thin raised molding flank the wall.
An artistic French finishing technique has been used to give the appearance of age. The stone has a warm and subtle cream patina, allowing this versatile limestone wall fountain to be used inside or outdoors.
CONDITION: Good condition with intentional distress to mimic antiquity. Light oxidation to the iron spout. Stone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Photos of current patina available on request.
