This expansive wrought iron and tole chandelier from France measures over 5 feet long and would be an ideal fit in a room such as a library, dining room, game room, or hanging over a long kitchen island.
The chandelier is composed of a mix of scrolling hand wrought iron, gilt stamped tole, and two large stags. It is held up by two forged iron links, and immediately underneath the links are two foliate margents on either side of a central foliate cartouche. Sitting on top of the cartouche is a scalloped motif with more bursting leaves. All this is flanked by the most prominent decoration of the chandelier: a pair of rampant deer, patinated in a bronze coloration.
Below the central cartouche is some dark green drapery with gold borders terminating in curved tassels. The drapery appears on both sides of the chandelier. Gently curved iron arms emanate from the drapery and tassels, leading into C-scrolls just below the foliate tole candle cups. There are a total of six candle cups, three on each side (US electrified). The chandelier is also considered down lighting, as there is a socket nestled in between the green drapery.
This very decorative hand made French iron chandelier with two large stags is highly detailed and will make quite an impression in any room in which it’s hung.
CONDITION: Good condition with some rubs to metal. Wired for use in American homes.
