Louis Philippe mirrors are known for their rounded top corners and subtle embellishments to the frame. In the 19th century, these types of mirrors were often placed above fireplace mantels in apartments throughout Paris. Due to its size, our French Louis Philippe giltwood mirror (63 1/8” H x 48 3/8” wide) would have originally graced a wall in a large Haussmannian style apartment. The mirror is surrounded by a lovely polychrome frame with floral and foliate motifs on a quarter round molding. Louis Philippe mirrors, with their restrained beauty, can be paired with just about any style of design.
CONDITION: Wear commensurate to age and use, with light scratches and buildup to mirror. Minor losses to the carved frame. The frame has had small professional repair to bottom corner. Not wired in the back for hanging.
