This magnificent and large, oval, giltwood Italian mirror is in the Baroque style. It is highly sculptural with a large cherub mask in full form at the top with its wings flowing to either side. Robust acanthus leave carvings in large scrolling swirls surround the sides of the mirror. At the bottom center is a beaded scroll surrounded by more flourishes of scrolling acanthus leaves. The raised portions of the motifs have been water gilded with burnished highlights, while the receding portions are matte. The glass mirror has been added later (not original). This stunning late 17th century, Italian mirror will provide a focal point in any room. Beveled plexiglass system on rear for each hanging.

CONDITION: Good. Beautiful condition. Previous restorations and touch ups to gold and age separations. Cracks and minor losses, all commensurate with the age being in the 1600’s. Mirror not original, but has some age. Please inspect photos..
