Hand-painted with a pastoral landscape beneath a coat of arms, this Italian albarello jar from the 1800s has a beautiful cobalt blue and white palette. The heraldic cartouche depicts a castle surrounded by a shapely console that is topped by an open crown. Several buildings dot the hillside scene, with numerous flowers, trees, and bushes also lining the landscape. A series of fluting surrounds the images, providing a visible frame to the illustration. The verso side has a production mark that reads “F.C. 1778” painted between a pair of meandering, interlacing line motifs. Our blue and white albarello would make a wonderful decorative accessory, and could also be used to hold kitchen utensils or fresh cut flowers.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Fleabites and light losses to paint. Slight interior buildup. Minimal craquelure.
