This hand carved limestone wall fountain was carved in the South of France about 20 years ago. It has a semi-octagonal basin with shaped edges. The limestone was hand cut from the Luberon massif of Provence, which is a region in southeastern France. A massif is a group of mountain peaks that are clustered in such a way that it is difficult to identify the individual mountains. The area has been a source of supply for builders and stone carvers for hundreds of years. The stone carves well and maintains a good consistency with a very light natural cream color.
Our fountain is comprised of 16 individual stones that have developed a nice gray patina from natural weathering. The arched crown gently slopes downwards into scrolled shoulders, while a scrolled iron spout emanates from a raised bas-relief shell with a floral accent.
Completely carved by hand in Provence, this French limestone wall fountain will add interest to any wall, indoors or outside.
CONDITION: Good condition with intentional patina and aging with slight nicks, etc., as seen in photos. Stone is natural material that can become darker or lighter from the elements.
