With its stout, rectilinear appearance and an apron consisting of three seamless drawers, this three-door enfilade is of the Louis Philippe style. Hand-carved in France during the early 1900’s, the enfilade (a buffet with more than two doors) is comprised of walnut and fruitwood. As is the case with most enfilades, this particular furnishing has a low profile, resting on four short block feet enveloped by ogee brackets beneath a thick plinth molding.
The top has subtle adornment, with three rectangular panels of horizontal boards. To soften the linear nature of the enfilade, the wood worker carved the apron with cyma recta, which is a double curved molding. The apron also houses three drawers, which have been arranged without pulls or hardware, allowing the molding to flow uninterrupted. Beneath each drawer is a rectangular door with an inset panel embellished with bevel molding. The doors open to reveal a single shelf in each compartment, providing ample storage space for linens and serving pieces (if used in a dining room). Our Louis Philippe style three-door enfilade can also be used in a living room, hallway, or game room and paired with just about any interior design style.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition, with some nicks and rubs commensurate with age and use. Three functioning door locks, which are opened by two keys. Some inconsistencies to the finish of the top, commensurate with age and use.
