A towering cave a vin wine bottle carrier from France, sections of the wood were repurposed from 19th century furniture, most likely a chiffonier or country clock case. The piece has been made with a total of seven wine racks each with a four bottle capacity. All of the shelves (except the bottom) have been adorned with a pair of facing volutes with S-scroll tails, mirroring the carving at the top of the original furniture. The top five shelves have more recent black lettering that reads “Chateau Margaux Cave a Vin”. Our charming “Chateau Margaux” cave a vin is only 25 inches wide and less than 13 inches deep, allowing it to be placed in an area where space is at a premium, such as a bar area or kitchen.
CONDITION: Sections of wood were salvaged from 19th century furniture, with more recent additions, including the hand-painted lettering. Some age separations and traces of old wood worm. Small fills to dowel holes on the old wood.
