French Bourgogne Antique Work Bench Wine Carrier

SKU: 422-147 Category:

$2,900.00

Description

Originally used in a 19th century French woodwork shop, this antique work bench has ingeniously been repurposed into a charming five bottle wine carrier. The three inch thick top is part of the original bench, but the two shelves with arbalete fronts are more recent additions. While most of the legs are blocked, the front left one has been sinuously carved and is fronted by the bench’s still functioning iron handled vise. The front of the top shelf has been painted Bourgogne in black letters, which is French for “Burgundy”.

Hand-crafted by a French cabinetmaker who repurposes antique furniture with newer pieces of wood, our Bourgogne bench wine carrier has the ability to hold at least five bottles. The top shelf has been carved with indentations that allow the bottles to be stored flat, while the bottom shelf provides enough room for bottles to be stored upright. It could also be used for storing wine/bar accessories, such as towels, cutting boards and glassware. A perfect addition to any room that needs wine storage, such as a kitchen, dining room, or bar area.

CONDITION: Strong antique condition to 19th century wood that was repurposed from a workbench, with minor losses and age separations. More recent additions, such as the painted letters, shelving, and small repairs. Light traces of old wood worm. Acceptable nicks, scratches, and cavitations, all commensurate to use as a work bench. Please see photos for details.
