Exceptionally Tall and Narrow Antique French Louis Philippe Giltwood Mirror

SKU: 422-44 Category:

$4,800.00

Description

With understated elegance and clean lines that mesh with just about every interior design style, Louis Philippe mirrors are always in high demand. Standing just under eight feet tall, our Louis Philippe giltwood mirror has a subtle floral motif carved on the cavetto cornice that is enclosed by a pair of quarter round moldings.

Although the towering stature makes this mirror unique, it still possesses the hallmarks of a Louis Philippe frame: rounded top corners paired with square bottom corners. The giltwood frame also has traces of the red bole peeking through, a highly sought after look that is traditionally a good indicator of age.

Typically found above fireplace mantels in late 19th century French apartments, our exceptionally tall Louis Philippe giltwood mirror can be considered a full-length floor mirror. A perfect addition to any bedroom or boudoir, it could also be placed in a foyer or hallway.

CONDITION: Good antique condition, with minor rubs, losses, and old repairs to the giltwood frame. Slight buildup to the frame. Light scratching to mirror, which is not original.
