An elegant side table, hand-carved in the early 1900s in the style of Louis XVI. With a diameter of 26 ¼ inches, the charming table can be used where space is at a premium. Topped by a three-quarters-inch-thick circular marble, the stone has a beautiful blend of pink, gold, brown, white, and red hues. A thin molding adorned with a repeating rais-de-coeur skirts the marble, just above an apron of Vitruvian waves. The Neoclassical motif is interrupted by four pairs of rectangular florets that form the tops of slender fluted legs. Identical joinery can be seen at the bottom of the legs, above an arrow foot with a protruding ring. The lower florets are affixed to the outside of a 22 ¾ inch lower section that is caned, providing a shelf for placing small items. Our Louis XVI-style side table can be used in just about any room, from a hallway, bedroom, bathroom, or den.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor nicks and rubs to wood. Light scratches to marble. Small restoration to one leg.
