This English coal scuttle has a curved copper handle and a spout than runs continuously from the front of the body to the back. There is a brass handle at the back for balancing when lifting the bucket, and both brass handles have been attached to the body by rivets. The term “scuttle” is of English origin, while the French word is “hotte”. These were used to refill coal fueled ovens or heaters. Today, they are decorative accessories, but can definitely be used for holding kindle, coal, or fire starter.
CONDITION: Good condition with very minor denting to copper. Surface buildup on the interior.
