A high quality example of a brass door stop from England, cast circa 1840. Cast in the shape of a long-necked bird drinking from a handled vase, the stop is relatively heavy, more than capable of propping a door ajar. The vase is adorned with a floral motif on the neck with a large foliate handle. A bulbous lower body is embellished with a partial acanthus leaf beneath repeating quatrefoils with lozenge piercings. Our heavy brass door stop from England can also be used as a bookend or a lovely decorative accessory for a mantel, shelf, or small table.
Approximate weight: 5 lbs.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with light buildup and minor wear commensurate to age and use. Please see photos for details.
