Description

Originally used to harvest grapes at a French vineyard in the early 1900’s, this metal grape collection hod (or hotte in French) has been painted with a French wine label on top of a teal background. There are two hoop handles near the top, attached to the tapering sides. The wine label has been painted in a combination of gold, red, and black lettering that reads “Chateau Cos Labory Grand Cru Classe Classement de 1855”. Beneath this is the stylized version of the Chateau Cos Labory logo, which is a shaped coat of arms shield in white with a chateau outlined in black. Two golden lion supporters, standing on a white banner reading “Cos Labory”, and an open five point crown (also gold) surround the heraldic display. Further information about the appellation can be seen beneath the banner, reading “1884” in red and “Saint-Estephe Medoc” in black (this indicates the label was for a red wine from the Medoc subregion of Bordeaux). Our Chateau Cos Labory wine grape hod will be a perfect accessory piece for a wine room or kitchen.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with light cavitations and rubs. Minor buildup and oxidation to the interior. The painted exterior was most likely added more recently.
