The tapering nature of the column adds a touch of elegance to this limestone armillary sundial. Hand-carved in Italy, the column is topped by a molded entablature that supports the four-ring iron armillary and arrow gnomon (the arrow is 37 ¼ inches long, while the sphere is 20 inches in diameter). The bottom section of the column significantly juts out, with protruding molding above a thick base. Beneath the column is a second piece of stone, carved with a cavetto cornice, offering added stability and support to the five-and-a-half-foot tall sundial. The light gray stone has areas that have darkened with exposure to the elements, paired with a speckled green and gold patina. Our tapered sundial, measuring over 5 1/2 feet tall, would make a fabulous addition to any landscape installation.
CONDITION: Very good condition with minor nicks, rubs, and oxidation to the armillary. Stone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Please contact us for a photo of the current patina. Not intended to be an accurate measure of time of day.
