This hand-carved Italian fountain features a putto with a vase on his right shoulder, standing on a shaped plinth. The mouth of the vase is hollowed out, allowing for water to flow into the shallow self-enclosed basin below.
The putto is wearing only a piece of fabric that is draped around his right shoulder and runs down towards the left hip. The plinth beneath is roughly rectangular, with undulating sides and faint linear fluting on the sides and top. The back of the plinth rises into a stylized fluted pedestal that the putto is leaning against.
The putto statue and plinth sit on top of a rectangular section of the back wall of the basin. The shallow basin (5 ¼ inches in height) has been carved from one piece of stone. It features an arched front wall with sinuous springers. All sides except for the back have quarter round molding that flows seamlessly into canted edges that have a deep recession near the base.
Our hand-carved Italian limestone putti fountain can be used in any style house. It can be placed against a wall or left free-standing, making a lovely centerpiece to any garden setting. The statue is partially hollowed out in the center for easy plumbing.
CONDITION: Good condition with minor wear and nicks. Stone is a natural material that can become darker or lighter from the elements. Areas of the stone, particularly the putto, have started to develop a nice warm patina. Traces of lichen on basin. Please see photos for details.
