This paneled and double-sided interior door was hand painted in Lombardy, Italy around 1850. Both sides have the same paneling and decoration. The upper two vertical, raised panels have hand painted, delicate Neo-Classical floral designs. The center of the panels are decorated with bouquet filled vases. The bottom rectangular raised panel has been painted with C-Scroll acanthus leaf motifs in each corner. There are two pintle style hinges on the side.
The use of polychrome decoration of doors has long been an architectural tradition in Italy, yet the ever sought after blue and white coloration is hard to find . Today, this charming interior door will be perfect anywhere a touch of bright blue and white is needed.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with some losses and scratches to paint as seen in photos. Little holes along top and some abrasions. No door knob or key.
