This exceptional and large counter was made for a French store in the last quarter of the 1800s. At roughly 9.5 feet, it is quite long, indicating that it was designed for a larger store or shop. It is carved in a pretty French Oak and retains its original finish. The back is open with one vertical divider and a shelf. Old grooves along the bottom of the interior means that it once had sliding panels of some sort.
The overall design is elegant and restrained, with the only real decoration consisting of simple scrolls and gently curving panels. Over the years, it has been kept in excellent condition, and today it would serve as a fantastic bar or sideboard. Of course, it can also be used once again as a counter in a shop or restaurant.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition with some marks to top as seen in photos. Minor nicks and fading to color in areas. Very clean and ready use.
