Hand-carved in Spain during the 1800’s, this antique farm door has eight rows of rectilinear panels assembled using mortis construction. Most of the panels are square, but there are a few rows of horizontally aligned rectangles. Each of the panels has been carved with beveled edges, adding depth to the door. This style of paneled door has been popular in Spanish construction for hundreds of years. They can still be seen on homes and farm houses throughout Spain. Our 19th century paneled Spanish farm door can be used anywhere in a home. The door could also be rotated and used as a headboard for a queen size bed. Additionally, it can also be re-purposed as a wonderful coffee table.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with wear commensurate to age and use, including minor losses and age separations. Traces of old wood worm and repairs. The knuckles of pintel hinges are still attached to the side. The door was stripped at some point, leaving light traces of old red paint on some panels.
