This oil painting of winter in the mountains with a lake in the foreground, depicts horses being readied for moving a massive log cut. The stump where the logs were cut is on the hill to the right. A dog looks out onto the lake, while two crows in the foreground forage for food. The artist was Adalbert Waagen from Germany, (1834 – 1898). He signed the painting in the lower left-hand corner, and it sits in a beautiful giltwood frame. A plaque is on the bottom center of the frame with his name and date of birth and death. There is an old Henry Wimmer’s Gallery sticker (Munich) on the back of the frame.
CONDITION: Painting is in very good condition with minor stain to back of canvas. Frame has minor wear
