From England, this is a fabulous antique Elizabethan style table with an unusual nearly full length drawer on one side. This piece can serve as a library table, center table, or as a grand console in a large area. Tables such as this first appeared in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. This table has four baluster legs with carved floral and foliate designs, block feet and a peripheral stretchers. The frieze has scrolling floral and foliate motifs on a patterned ground. There is a wonderful high sheen to the oak.
CONDITION: Good condition with some old restorations. Minor scratches and slight glaze/color variations to top (slight reddish tone to a few small areas). Old loss to a circular acanthus motif on one leg.
