This half round table was made in Italy, in the mid to late 1700’s. Tables of this type were first constructed in the mid to late 1600’s, heavily influenced by Spanish style. The table top is a thick walnut board that has a nice, soft, rounded molding. It rests on shaped, twin lyre scroll legs connected by curved stretchers of the same flowing form. All of this rests on 4 feet ending in large, out-turned scrolls.
This table is made of Italian walnut as its primary wood, and is full of character. It has a warm, rich patina, and you can see small, old replacements. It would have been one of a pair that could be joined together. Today, this Italian piece will serve as a beautiful console table anywhere in the home.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with old restorations, wear, and minor traces of old wood worm. Separation in top as seen in photos, along with minor markings and wear to top.
