From 19th century France, this rustic farm table with rounded ends is a unique find. Most antique French farm tables are rectangular planks with plain legs and feet. While our tabletop is made from a single oak plank, it is a hand-carved oval, and the platform feet have a pronounced and unusual shape.
The turned baluster legs and platform feet are also constructed in hand carved oak. These platform feet are a standout feature of the table, and one its most attractive attributes. They are thick and robust, with high undulating volute ends. They are connected to each other by a solid hand carved stretcher board. Old forged iron turn-bolts connect the plank top to the base, and old round peg fills can be seen in parts of the top which add character and attest to the age of this great table.
The ends of the table allow for ample leg room, making this an ideal dining table in just about any style house. The French oak has a nice patina, with a warm golden brown coloration.
CONDITION: Good condition with slight age separations with minor nicks and losses. Wear commensurate to age and use.
