This antique, French painted rectangular dining table is in the Louis XV style and is reminiscent of Provence. It has a painted faux marble top in tones of pale green, medium green and dark green with beige veining running throughout. The design on the faux marble is meant to mimic intarsia. There is a star encircled by three borders in the center which connects two smaller circles at either end of the table. The tri-colored borders are also carried out along the borders of the table.
The frieze features a scalloped border and shells centered on all sides. The cabriole legs have stylized shell motif at the hips and terminate in acanthus leaf scrolled feet or roquillards.
CONDITION: Good antique condition – chipping and rubs to paint, commensurate with age – Late 1800’s.
