This large and colorful hunt scene painting from the early 1900’s is by the French artist Andre Loupot (1869-1943).
Loupot has depicted two men after a successful hunt. On the right side of the canvas, a hunter dressed in brown and blue, and holding a rifle, sits with a felled stag at his feet. A small black hound stands on its hind legs with front paws on the man’s knee. Another hunter with a rifle sits against a tree on the opposite side of the canvas. He has one hand around a dog that is sitting beside a pile of game, including a rabbit and some pheasants. A third dog is standing in between the two men as birds fly in the bright sky.
A simple wood frame surrounds the four foot tall canvas. The canvas has slight wear and creasing which add to the allure of the charming Loupot hunt scene painting.
CONDITION: Loss of paint, creasing and wear to canvas as seen in photos.
