This handsome single door armoire, or display cabinet is known as a “vitrine” in France. It was made toward the end of the 1800’s, constructed out of carved oak and hand blown glass. The lower door is decorated with a violin overlapping a scroll of musical sheets, within a framework of ribbons, oak leaves, and acanthus leaves. Beneath this panel, is a single drawer with a foliate pull, and above, is the tall glass door that opens to 4 interior display surfaces (3 adjustable shelves). This is flanked by two beautiful 59-inch tall turned columns. The top of the piece is crowned by cartouches, turned finials, and more delicate, foliate carvings. All this rests on large front bun feet and two block feet in the rear. We have given this vitrine a light French wax, which gives it a warm depth and coloration. Key included.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition with light wear to exterior. Nicks to interior shelves.
