From France, this ingenious corner cabinet confiturier will be the perfect piece for smaller spaces where storage is at a premium. Confituriers were originally used for storing confit or jams, jellies, sweetmeats, confectioneries and more. On the front of the door, its ornamentation is an indented, shaped, molding surrounded by curved and stepped in moldings. The rounded corners have small rectangular panels on them with curved moldings. This door dates to the middle of the 1700’s, while the rest of the boards are later (19th C.) The interior has one shelf for storage. All this rests upon two S-scroll feet and a block foot for the back. This antique French confiturier can be tucked into the corner of almost any room and will serve a variety of purposes in the home.
