Antique Carved Granite Farm Trough from Normandy, France, 19th Century

SKU: 924-21B Category:

$3,900.00

Description

Dating to the 1800s, this hand-carved granite farm trough was discovered on a property in Normandy, France. Areas of the trough have moss accumulation, adding tints of green to the dark gray stone that also has lighter gray accents mixed with black and ochre. The rectangular trough has an opening of 12 x 32 ½, with a height of seven inches, allowing it to be used as a rustic garden planter (there is a drainage hole). Natural cavitations in the granite enhance the appeal of the trough, making it a unique option for a farmhouse sink.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor nicks and losses, with inherent cavitations to the granite. Accumulation of moss and lichen with interior buildup commensurate with age and use gives the trough a unique patination. One side has residual mortar from a previous installation.
