This small rectangular, gilt composite and wood mirror is a perfect size for so many areas of the home. It has floral and foliate motifs on a patterned ground, exactly like the rich period Louis XV frames produced in the 18th century. This one most likely dates to sometime in the early 20th century. A frame of this style was originally created for a painting. The mirror was added later. The corner and center motifs are large shell and acanthus leaves, often seen on Louis XV items. The color of the gold and the sumptuous detail of this little framed mirror are superb.
CONDITION: Good overall condition. Cracking to finish and minor losses to motifs. Some restoration to motifs.
