Originating in the South of France, at the north end of the low-elevation Alpilles mountains of Saint-Remy-de-Provence, this limestone center fountain has been hand-carved in nine sections. The octagonal basin has an undercut ogee molding that swings outwards above the three-inch molding at the base of each stone. In the center of the basin is a baluster-form column topped by an octagonal spill bowl that measures 14 inches in diameter. A hole in the center of the bowl runs all the way down to the thick plinth beneath the column, allowing the plumbing to remain hidden. The light gray color stone has areas of darkened patina, but it is the strong lichen presence coupled with the deeply incurved basin stones that really makes our center fountain charming. This would make a perfect addition to a courtyard or rose garden.
CONDITION: Very good condition, with minor nicks and rubs. Stone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Please contact us for a photo of the current patina.
