Known as a coffre, this studded natural leather and wood domed chest was hand-made in France in the 1800s. Its distinct charm lies in its light coloration, petite size and ovate iron handles on each side, which make it highly portable. The chest is adorned with numerous nail heads, some forming intricate geometrical patterns, that keep the beige leather affixed to the domed top and rectangular body. Interestingly, four quarter-round wooden straps run along the length of the lid, adding structural integrity while also giving the trunk a unique appearance, especially when coupled with the hand-painted purple and cream foliate interior. Our small, studded leather trunk from France can be used wherever an interesting and decorative storage solution is needed, such as a bedroom, bathroom, or living room.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with general wear and some losses and buildup to the interior with the trace of an old repair. Light loss to one hasp. Commensurate wear to leather. Please see photos.
