Description

Hand-carved in the 1800’s in France, our silverleaf and antique white painted mirror is from the Louis Philippe period. With a restrained style and elegance, Louis Philippe mirrors are timeless and highly sought after.

As with most Louis Philippe mirrors, this mirror features straight lines except for the rounded corners at the top. The raised quarter round border has been adorned with silverleaf fluting and is flanked by two layers of cavetto molding, painted antique white. Also painted in antique white is a row of beading that forms the innermost border. The glass has a light loss of silvering, which is a desirable trait for antique mirrors.

This type of mirror became very popular as an overmantel piece in 19th century apartments throughout France. Today, the sleek lines of our Louis Philippe silverleaf and antique white painted mirror will continue to adapt well to any of its surroundings.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with wear commensurate to age and use, including minor rubs and losses to silverleaf with age separations. Light loss of silvering and buildup to glass.
