This robust demi-lune trough was hand carved in Normandy, France in the first half of the 1800’s. The stone used was a local granite, which is difficult to work with due to its hardness. The granite has a great color and texture, partly due to the many years of weathering the elements. There is a type of drainage hole along the front wall (offset from center), but an additional drainage hole would likely need to be drilled if this is to be installed as a sink.
This antique French trough was carved from a solid large piece of granite and is full of character. It would make a wonderful farmhouse sink, but can of course be used as an outdoor fountain feature or planter for colorful flowers.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition with acceptable losses and natural patina. Please see photos.
