1940s French Wrought Iron Table with Carrara Marble Top

SKU: 422-51 Category:

$5,600.00

Description

A luxurious marble top with recessed quarter round molding tops a highly scrolled wrought iron base on this French table from the 1940’s. The white Carrara marble has dark gray veining, while the iron base, which features a speckled rust/brown patination, sits on four volute feet. A series of C- and S-scrolls, interconnected and joined by roundels, form a pair of open legs full of movement. The beautiful legs are further accentuated by gold tole curled leaves on the outermost scrolls. A pair of parallel stretchers adorned with more scrolls and volutes join the two legs. There are also two angled connectors that merge at the platter that supports the marble top. In the center of the stretchers (directly beneath the meeting point of the connectors) is a noix consisting of an open ring topped with a spherical gold finial with a square plinth.

This versatile wrought iron table with marble top can be used either inside or outdoors. It can be placed as an entry table in a large foyer or as a dining or garden room table.

CONDITION: Good condition with wear commensurate to age and use, including buildup and light oxidation to iron base. The marble top has been professionally repaired. Minor losses to gilded tole and fleabites to the marble.
